First time entering couple class. Oscar and Feliz took a fantastic second place.

dog shows

Shows are only a very small part of our life, but I must admit we really really love it. If you asked me seven years ago my opinion about dogshows and nowadays, you couln’t get more different answers. So i will never judge about someone who dislikes it, but if you haven’t been there I can highly recommend to go and take a look.

Years ago I really thought a dogshow was soulful for the dogs. That they were forced to things they don’t like to do. When I got Oscar, my first petit basset griffon vendeen (shortened peeb), I took him as a pet. My new fur baby. I got in contact with his sisters owner. And I decided to take a look at a dogshow for myself. And I saw the dogs really liked it. And Oscar his lovely sister did great that day. That day I made up my mind. I wanted another peeb and starting with dogshows. So Noël entered our lives and we took weekly handling classes. Both my boys liked it so much. And in October 2017 it was the first time I entered the showring with my boys. Extremely nervous and excited.

A couple of years later I am still excited when I enter the ring. Both boys still like to join us to the shows. Oscar turned out to be a real show pony. When it is showday it is like he turns on. Loves to show himself, tail and head up, chest proudly to the front. The attention at such day almost let him float. The first time he became groupwinner, in the evening on bed he curled himself on my pillow looking at me ‘look what we achieved, are you proud at me, mom?’

Noël is a real peeb and shows off when he wants, thankfully most shows he really likes. The boy loves the mainring better than the breed ring, because mister has than more space. This boy exactly knows what he wants.

And our Feliz is a real sassy girl in the ring. She has an real attitude. Because of Covid she has a big gap in her showlist. But after Covid we picked up and she did awesome!

Our siblings, Querida and Ivanhoe, are a challenge. They have most fun at a show. But only walk descent when they are in to it. So they are acting like real dogs in puberty. But neitherless they performed so well in junior class and we are extremely proud on our own bred youngsters.

You can find the titles of each fur baby on his own page.

And every showday it is lovely to see some of our friends from the dogworld again. All having dogs bonds. And with these days there are a lot of treats and nice food involved, as well for the dogs as for us.

I have the luck that my mom loves to go with us to the shows. A couple of extra hands are always welcome those days as well as the company. And sometimes we have quite some kilometers to travel, than it is always nice not to travel alone. And as my mom goes with us, my dad sometimes takes care of a dog that stays at home. So all is covered with help of my family.

Such a special and proud day! Our own bred boy won Reserve Best in Group under breedspecialist John Wauben in a large entry in mainring, june 2022.
