About me
Get to know me better!
Most of my life I’ve had a dog. When I was 4 years old, I had only one wish, a dog. And there she was, the last present from Sinterklaas (a Dutch holiday for children). I was over the moon with my new little friend. As I am an only child, it felt also like having a sister. However I was only 4 years old, my parents let me promise I would walk the dog twice a day. As little as I was, I kept this promise and walked twice a day with my Molly. I’ve never seen it as something I had to. I wanted a doggie, so you do it for her. Unfortunately she became sick and she went over the rainbow when she was only 8 years old. I was devastated.
A little while later my neighbors got a dog, Layka, a Belgium shepherd. When I was not at school or with friends, I was playing and walking with Layka. One night I had a dream. In that dream a friend of mine came to me. And she told me to come with her. And there she was, my own Belgium shepherd pup.
And in real that day, that friends kitten was born. And my mom and dad told me to look in the paper, and there I did read ‘Belgium shepherd pups for sale’. And that day our girl Kajim moved in. Over the moon, so happy! This girl really loved to watch sports on television. And she walked away from home a couple of times. Once she went to my mom in the shop she worked. And twice the lady came to my school. Of course she was not allowed, but so sweet. When I left my parents house because of my study, Kajim stayed with my parents. A small student room is not the place for a dog, specially not for a shepherd. And my parents wouldn’t give her up. We had the luck this girl became over 16 years of age.

In meantime I had the opportunity to have a dog in my life again. This time it was a boy, Max. He was a Friese Stabij, a Dutch breed. A pretty stubborn breed. He was my beste mate. He always protected me. Other people sometimes thought he was a loud dog. But it was only for protection. When I was alone with him or with people he knew, he was really quiet. Listened so very well, we went to dog school and he was always number 1 or 2. Could off leash. And of course he was spoiled. I had the luck he became 15,5 years in very good health. It is the most difficult decision for a dog mom/owner to make to let your four legged soulmate go. I was devastated to call the vet and make the appointment. I let him go at home, eating a cookie. Of course I was broken, but I could do everything for him. Stayed with him. Till his last breath, put him on the brancard and I helped carrying him in the ambulance.
I knew he was not my final dog. But first you want to wait a bit. In meantime I baby-sitted sometimes the dogs of neighbors. For me is a life without a dog no life at all.
One of the neighbors had a dashhund wire. Love the stubbornness, just like my Max was. But a dashhund was to small for me, wanted a little bigger but not to big. So my search started on the web. In the end I had to choose between a petit basset griffon vendeen and a basset fauve the Bretagne. And I choose the first.
On February 4th 2016 I had the luck to bring my first peeb, Oscar, home. And from that day on my love for the breed grew and grew and grew.
Peebs are really packdogs and love to live in company, bc of this and my addiction to the breed some more fur babies entered my house and my heart. Sometimes I think my heart must have the shape of a paw ?
